How to Choose the Right Human Hair Lace Front Wig

A human hair lace front wig combines real human hair with a fine lace section at the front of the cap to create a natural-looking hairline and flexible parting.

Choosing the right option depends on the lace construction, installation method, hair texture, length and level of maintenance you prefer. Use this quick guide to find a human hair lace wig that suits your experience, lifestyle and styling needs.

Choose the Right Lace Construction

  • A 5x5 closure wig has the smallest lace area and requires less trimming, blending and maintenance, making it the easiest option for beginners and quick everyday wear.
  • A 10x6 glueless wig offers wider front hairline coverage and more parting space while remaining easy to put on and remove without regular adhesive.
  • A 13x6 lace front wig provides full front hairline coverage, including the temples, with the most freedom for middle, side and deep side parts.

Quick guide: Choose a 5x5 closure for the easiest installation, a 10x6 glueless wig for a balance of coverage and convenience, or a 13x6 lace front for maximum styling flexibility.

Choose a Natural-Looking Texture

Yaki Straight, Kinky Straight and other textured human hair lace wigs are ideal if you prefer a finish inspired by relaxed, silk-pressed, blown-out or naturally textured Afro hair.

Compared with silkier straight textures, Yaki and Kinky Straight hair generally create a fuller appearance and can blend more naturally with textured hair around the hairline.

Best for: customers who prefer a fuller, natural-textured finish.

Choose a Length That Suits Your Routine

Short lace wigs and human hair bob wigs are generally easier to detangle, style and maintain than longer wigs. They are practical for work, travel and everyday wear when you want a polished style with less daily maintenance.

Longer wigs provide more styling possibilities but usually require additional detangling, conditioning and care.

Best for: short and bob styles for easier maintenance, or longer styles for greater styling variety.

Choose Your Preferred Style

Curly, wavy and layered human hair wigs add volume, movement and shape, while straight styles are generally easier to restyle and maintain.

Human hair lace wigs can usually be curled, straightened or restyled using suitable tools and heat protection. Frequent heat styling or chemical processing may shorten the lifespan of the hair.

Best for: customers who want to change their hairstyle and enjoy greater volume, movement or styling versatility.

Remy vs Luxury Raw Human Hair: Which Is Right for You?

MyFirstWig UK offers two human hair options for our lace wigs: Remy Human Hair and Luxury Raw Human Hair. Both provide natural movement and flexible styling, but they differ in colour versatility, longevity and price.

Remy Human Hair is a practical choice for everyday wear and offers excellent value. It can be coloured into natural, wearable shades such as brown, brown-blonde and burgundy. With proper washing and care, limited heat styling and minimal chemical processing, a Remy Human Hair wig can typically last around 10–14 months.

Luxury Raw Human Hair is our premium option for customers who want greater colour flexibility and a longer potential lifespan. It can be professionally coloured into a wider range of shades, including blonde, grey, pink and other fashion colours. With proper care and minimal heat or chemical processing, a Luxury Raw Human Hair wig can typically last around 12–24 months.

Choose Remy Human Hair for everyday value and natural colour options. Choose Luxury Raw Human Hair for premium hair quality, greater colouring flexibility and longer-lasting wear.

Actual lifespan and colouring results vary depending on how often the wig is worn, maintained, heat-styled and chemically processed. We recommend having major colour changes carried out by an experienced professional.

What is the difference between a 13x6 lace front wig, a 10x6 glueless wig and a 5x5 closure wig?

The main differences between a 13x6 lace front wig, a 10x6 glueless wig and a 5x5 closure wig are the amount of hairline coverage, parting space and ease of installation.

13x6 Lace Front Wig: Offers full coverage across the front hairline, including the temples, with the most space for middle, side and deep side partings. It provides maximum styling freedom and is ideal for styles that expose the front hairline. It can be worn glueless, although fully exposed hairline styles may benefit from extra hold.

10x6 Glueless Wig: Covers around 90% of the front hairline and offers a natural lace-front appearance with wide parting space. It provides a versatile balance between hairline coverage and easy glueless wear, making it suitable for everyday styling. The temples may show slightly when the hair is pulled fully back.

5x5 Closure Wig: Has a smaller lace area positioned at the centre front of the cap. It provides middle or slight side-parting options and requires less lace trimming, customisation and maintenance. This is the easiest and most beginner-friendly option for quick, everyday glueless wear.

Choose a 13x6 lace front wig for maximum hairline coverage and styling freedom, a 10x6 glueless wig for easy everyday wear with wider coverage, or a 5x5 closure wig for the simplest installation and lowest-maintenance option.

How do I choose a human hair lace front wig as a beginner?

If you are buying your first human hair lace wig, focus on the cap construction, fit, hairstyle and level of maintenance.

Choose a beginner-friendly construction: A 5x5 closure wig has a smaller lace area and is generally the easiest option to install and maintain. Choose a 10x6 glueless wig if you want wider hairline coverage and more parting space while keeping the convenience of glueless wear.

Measure your head before ordering: Available sizing varies by wig construction. Follow our head measurement and wig cap size guide, then check the size options on the individual product page.

Start with a manageable style: Short, bob-length, straight or lightly layered wigs are generally easier to detangle and maintain than very long or tightly curled styles.

Consider when you will wear it: Think about whether the wig is for everyday wear, work, travel or a special occasion. This will help you choose the most suitable length, texture and level of styling flexibility.

Check the processing time: Selected textures and optional customisation services require additional preparation time, so review the product information before ordering.

For the easiest first-wig experience, choose a correctly fitted 5x5 closure or 10x6 glueless wig in a manageable length and texture.

How do I choose the right wig cap size?

Choosing the correct cap size starts with measuring your head before ordering. Lay your natural hair as flat as possible, then use a soft measuring tape to take the required measurements around your hairline, across your head and around the nape.

Available sizing varies by wig construction. Our 13x6 lace front wigs are available in Size 1 and Size 2, while selected glueless closure wigs use an adjustable Average Size. Always check the size options and fitting information on the individual product page.

Follow our step-by-step head measurement and wig cap size guide before choosing your wig.
