Butterfly Layered Cut Wig Tutorial: Unboxing & Heatless Styling

In this guide, we'll walk you through two things: how to unbox your wig for that perfect first wear, and how to use heatless hair curlers to reset the style whenever you need a refresh — whether you're getting ready for tomorrow or planning ahead for the days to come.

Part 1: Unboxing – Instant Style Out of the Box

When you receive your wig from Myfirstwig, it arrives with three heatless hair curlers already rolled into the hair. This is intentional! We pre-style your wig so you can wear it straight out of the box with minimal effort.

Here's how to unveil your new look:

Step 1: Unlock the Hook & Roll Out

Unhook the curlers and carefully unroll each one from the hair.

Step 2: Hold & Shake

Hold the wig by the cap and give it a gentle shake in the air.

Step 3: Run Your Fingers Through

Run your fingers through the lengths down to the ends.

That's it! You should now have the same gorgeous, flawless style you saw on our website, ready to wear.

Part 2: Restyling (After Washing or Over Time)

Over time, or after washing, your wig may lose its bounce. Follow this simple heatless method to recreate the look.

What You'll Need:

A mannequin head
A fine-tooth comb
3 Heatless Hair Curlers (the same type the wig arrived with)
A spray bottle filled with water

Step 1: Style the Top Layer

Position the wig facing you. Using the comb, section out the top layer of hair (the very top portion).

Take a heatless curler. Starting from underneath the section, wrap the hair around the curler from the outside moving inward. Roll until you reach the base. Once fully rolled, bend the curler upward to form a loop and hook the two ends together to secure it in place.

Step 2: Style the Middle Layer

Turn the wig around to face the back. Using your comb, section out the middle layer of hair.

Just as before, take a curler and wrap the hair from the outside in, starting underneath the section. Roll it all the way down, then bend the curler from bottom to top and hook the ends to secure.

Step 3: Style the Bottom Layer

Now focus on the lowest layer of the wig. Repeat the process: wrap the hair from the outside in using the curler. Roll to the end, then bend the curler upward and hook the ends.

Step 4: Set & Wait

If you're in a hurry (wearing it tomorrow): Lightly mist each section with water before rolling, and spray several times over the rolled curlers. Allow to dry and set.

If you're not in a rush (wearing in 4–5 days): Simply leave the curlers in place. The style will set naturally over the next few days without any moisture.
